I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Kyle over the past decade in a variety of capacities. While both living in the San Francisco Bay Area, the first time we met was actually in New York's Central Park in the dead heat of summer, to staff an experiential programming event for a major outdoor brand where I found him to be incredibly adaptive, fun, and an overall team player in a somewhat overwhelming pubic setting. That experience set the stage for many years of partnership across common organizations, and coalitions where I consistently saw Kyle speak forthright and compassionately about white privilege, and the urgent need for organizational ownership of it -- long before DEI initiatives became generally accepted in the non-profit, and outdoor recreation sectors. As a member of his founding board for the Outdoors Empowered Network, I found Kyle to be a strategic leader, effective convener, and thoughtful fundraiser. And as a peer, early in the development of my own organization, he provided me with solid strategies that helped me to understand and implement my own development efforts with great success. Kyle truly understands non-profits and especially philanthropy, recognizing that what underpins good work, are transparent relationships that center equity. I'm excited for the professional chapters ahead for Kyle because I know the positive values and experience that he can bring to any organization will mean impact and positive change at scale.

Kyle is an inspirational leader who excels at identifying and galvanizing individuals and groups toward the cause of bridging urban youth with nature. He is an excellent communicator, strategic thinker, and highly efficient in moving discussion to action. Kyle thinks "outside the box" and is highly skilled at forging relationships between organizations/institutions. His commitment to diversity goes beyond words and mission statements. He walks the talk.

I'm honored to be helping Green Schoolyards America complete it's phase one work with the National Outdoor Learning Initiative. Over 500 volunteers have contributed to what will become a comprehensive guide to re-opening schools using the outdoors. I forged lasting partnerships with outdoor industry executives, government and non-profit staff, and marketing professionals across the U.S. I orchestrated six national conferences to illuminate the need for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for member organizations featuring nationally renowned keynote speakers (Bay Area, Boston, Chicago, and Denver). I authored dozens of successful grant proposals, LOIs, and reports directed toward private (local and national), State, and Federal level organizations. Founded and expanded network from two California based memberships to a total of ten member programs across the U.S., impacting 50K youth annually.
