Collaborated with a team of twelve mechanical engineers and scientists to integrate experimental datasets for AI infrastructure to design batteries of all types by predicting new input materials to maximize properties for robotics and battery testing for renewable energy battery manufacturers. Organized lab tasks for the team coordinated timing deadlines to prepare for inspectors, investors, and customers. Conducted research designing, testing, and performed analysis to enhance battery performance, efficiency, and safety and improved manufacturing processes of tested electrolytes. Executed comprehensive quality control procedures ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Partnered with mechanical engineers to scale up large reactors from bench top to pilot scale, creating a reactor able to process 500L from our original 1L batches to synthesize large batch materials for customers while providing QA/QC information from samples throughout the synthesis process Streamlined hands-on processes of transferring synthesized materials to test and improved types of data utilized by analyzing electrochemical test results based on industry standards. Spearheaded development of the EH&S culture to meet standards required by OSHA, including introducing designated spill kits, fire extinguishers, evacuation plans, numbers to call, proper gas cylinder handling practices, and other safety measures. Contributed to development and advancement of cutting-edge battery technologies, synthesis techniques, and materials engineering processes for next-generation battery materials. Researched, designed, and synthesized novel materials with improved performance, safety, and storage capabilities. Utilized advanced characterization techniques to analyze material performance, optimize composition, and provide insights to the company. Collaborated with cross-functional teams to support scale-up processes, validate performance in real-world conditions, and drive continuous improvement.Instituted a training program for ten engineers and interns on project, giving them constant feedback on problem-solving potential issues that could arise and taking hands-on approach to resolve issues studied.Developed analytics allowing for testing of the dimensions by optimizing enabling distinction of individual nanowires from groups through dispersion techniques., crystallinity, handleability, and performance of composite nanowire membranes for use in battery cells, enabling distinction of individual nanowires from groups through dispersion techniques.Identified composite materials as the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution to make ceramic film optimal for drop-in solutions in roll-to-roll coating technologies, yielding films allowing easy handling, removal from substrates, and with tensile strengths rivaling non-ceramic impregnated polymers.Developed methods of compounding self-synthesized aluminum oxide nanowires capitalizing on thermal, mechanical, and electrical scalability created from in-house aluminum-lithium alloys combined with various polymers.Optimized layer height of coatings for battery separators and other components by improving tape-casting techniques such as using vacuum chucks, polymer substrates, and micrometers for consistent films. My main project was examining the structural growth model of thin films under various synthesis conditions. Synthesized thin films were polished to have a thickness-gradient revealing various stages of growth. XRD data from SSRL was correlated with FE-SEM and AFM data at intervals along the film edge to match crystallographic information with the structural information observed by FE-SEM and AFM. Understanding of the growth mechanism sheds light into tailoring future syntheses. Four poster presentations and oral presentations were delivered to ACS addressing the growth mechanism of TiO2 thin films on (111) Au substrate. There are two publications in preparation to be submitted within the next year. Show less

    • Graduate Teaching Assistant
      • May 2015 - Dec 2016

Conduct laboratory and discussion sessions with first and second year students to help them gain insight into the chemical knowledge gained in lecture. Worked with students at a one-on-one level to make sure they understand the concepts and are not falling behind. Also assisted as an inorganic lab teaching assistant where I taught undergraduate students to synthesize inorganic compounds (e.g. Zeolites) and characterize them using a suite of techniques including XRD, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Magnetic Susceptibility, NMR, and more.
