Mr. Pelkey, or Colonel Pelkey as I know him, is the gold standard of character a leader should possess. He's provided me with a measurable bar for my own self improvement as well as a compass for navigating difficult situations. In addition to being a pleasure to interact with on a daily basis Col. Pelkey showed me that patience isn't just a virtue but has real value in a team. The insight the man has on the most important asset (HUMAN) in any organization / business or team is incredible and untouched by any I've worked under since. Aside from the fact that he's a Dentist (Teeth gross me out - I think of Steve Martin in Little Shop of Horrors) I can't think of a negative thing to say. I haven't worked with anyone who has the ability to lead and unify a diverse group of people like Colonel Pelkey and I'm indebted to him for the impact he's had on my life in a huge way.

This is where my clinical knowledge, skills and abilities were enhanced significantly. I was assigned to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey after graduation.

General Dentist

Jun 2003 - Jun 2004
As a newly licensed general dentist, I provided dental care for a primarily migrant farmworker population in Fort Morgan Colorado. This was an extremely rewarding experience. Despite the fact that many of my patients did not speak English (and I did not speak Spanish), we learned to communicate effectively with key words, smiles and hugs. Although I enjoyed this position, we missed the Air Force family. As a newly licensed general dentist, I provided dental care for a primarily migrant farmworker population in Fort Morgan Colorado.
