Cascades is a 350,000sqft heavily automated paper converting and packaging facility. I am part of a team of mechanics where we work 50 to 70 hours a week, troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, modifing and upgrading, mechanical and electrical systems. We cover a very broad spectrum of equipment. Production lines, cranes, air compressors, vacuum pumps, compactors, conveyors systems, and almost any building maintenance that needs to be done. I am the only level 4 mechanic which is the highest level that can be achieved. I am also the plant safety teem coordinator, mechanic trainer, operations trainer and one of only two certified crane trainers. While working here I have gained extensive knowledge in web tension and control, film registration, print registration, embossing, shearing blade set up, blade sharpening, and adhesives.
