      • Nov 2011 - Nov 2015

Design lead for propulsion branch, Code 597, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Provide management of all mechanical design and hardware tasks related to spacecraft propulsion systems on the following programs: Magnetospheric Multi Scale (MMS): Propulsion system: Work with mechanical, electrical and thermal subsystems, to design structures, plumbing, and all specialized fixtures to increase efficiency and minimize weld count on production run of 4 identical observatories. Presented overall system design layout at peer review, PDR and CDR. Modular design approach to allow bench building of propulsion subsystem modules and simplify overall propulsion system integration. Additional duties include creation of detailed weld plan, identifying all assembly sequences, tools and fixtures necessary to assemble observatories with pictorial representation of weld location, clearances for weld heads and x-ray equipment, and contingency plans in the event of weld failure. Created specialized fixturing, proof test plans, installation procedure, and supervised installation of propellant tanks. Detail drawings of all propulsion related hardware to ANSI Y14.5 standards and output to CNC bend machine. Work with manufacturing branch to ensure timely delivery of flight hardware. Assume all production control responsibilities and organization of flight hardware to increase efficiency. Work with technicians to maximize efficiency of CNC tube bending equipment. Reverse engineered and developed new Swagelok Series 8 weld fixture blocks to eliminate difficulties encountered with block instability, and increase functionality.
