  I have worked for Podhale State College of Applied Sciences for over 11 years now. During that time, I have moved from being a language teacher to a senior lecturer position. After the first year, I was assigned the role of managing the language section of the College, first informally, then became the official director of the language department. As my institution reorganized its administrative structure, a process I was actively involved in, the language department was dissolved and absorbed by the Institute of Humanites, Social Studies and Tourism, of which I became the vice-director. As of May 2016 I was elected the vice-president of the College and I stepped into that role in September. My professional involvement with the academic institution is of dual nature - teaching, mainly linguistics and translation studies courses, and managing with the main focus on didactics and curricula as well as an oversight on implementing changes required by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The current position allows me to suggest and develop novel approaches to teaching and managing, which in turn provides opportunities to witness their positive influence on both students and staff.
