Did you know that a hard drive that was certified as erased can still have sensitive data on it? If you didn’t, don’t feel bad, most of our competitors don’t know it either. The challenge of data center decommissioning is the challenge of data security and preventing a mega breach. Because of this the security requirements in a data center are much more stringent and they require specialized knowledge with data destruction in storage arrays, servers, and networking devices. This is a niche specialty possessed by very few in the IT Asset Disposition market. Brass Valley has been working primarily with Data Centers - without a single data security or environmental incident since 2002. We were the first to develop an embedded media practice to help our clients minimize their attack surfaces and we expanded our capabilities to serve our clients on a global basis in 2020. Brass Valley has full data center decommissioning capabilites from the rack to point of demarcation. But while we’re at your facility we can do even more. We can also help with technology deployments including rack and stack, cabling, and ad hoc services. We are a one stop shop for your data center upgrade and decommissioning needs. So if you didn’t know that hard drives can be certified as erased and still have data on them, or you might like to work with a company that thinks outside of the box, we’d love to hear from you, contact us today. 👉 Direct message me right here on LinkedIn ✉ OR Email sales@brassvalley.com

The sad truth is the ITAD industry is riddled with misunderstandings, untruths and ‘gotchas’ that nobody else in ITAD is talking about. These leave unsuspecting organizations exposed to risks hidden in plain sight! Your solution comes in two parts - Prevention and Defense. Sadly, most ITAD companies fall short in both prevention and defense. Leaving their clients at risk, unnecessarily. Most ITAD companies wave 3rd party certifications at you and allow you to believe you're covered and everything will be okay. But it’s not enough. Here’s why: ⚠️ You are liable. Always - you are responsible for the stewardship of your IT equipment and the data even after it leaves your possession. Cradle to grave! ⚠️ Your spent IT assets are Universal Waste - when something goes wrong you can be prosecuted for hazardous waste violations under RCRA and CERCLA. ⚠️ Risk exposure beyond the HD - encryption has limitations, remote monitoring hardware and embedded media pose hidden threats nobody tells you about. ⚠️ Your chain of custody may be weak - regulatory guidance for a proper chain of custody is limited. This leads to a wide variety of interpretations from ITAD service providers. They can't all be right… How can your ITAD risk be managed comprehensively? If your organization deserves an ITAD vendor that takes the risk of data breach and environmental incidents as seriously as you… perhaps you’d be open to discussing a solution that embraces Prevention and Defense? 👉 Direct message me right here on LinkedIn ✉ OR Email sales@brassvalley.com

    • IT Asset Disposition
      • Aug 2020 - Present

IT Asset Disposition is the process of either recycling or reselling retired IT equipment with the goal of reusing or recycling as much equipment as possible. Understanding our process in 30 seconds: When equipment comes to us, we determine if it has any resellable potential. If it can be resold, it is inventoried, data is destroyed, then it is remarketed to a global network of buyers. If the equipment cannot be resold, after it is inventoried and data secured, the equipment goes through a disassembly and separation process to separate various commodities like metals, glass, plastics, circuit boards, etc. The commodities are then sent to domestic refineries (processors) where they are shredded, pulverized, smelted, then reclaimed for use as feedstock in new products. This is what is being referred to as the circular economy. Reporting Reporting is an important aspect of our process. Beginning with our Audit Ready ™ Chain of Custody, our goal in reporting is to give you the information you need for reconciliation, environmental goals, and to fulfill your legal obligations in a timely manner. After your equipment reaches us, it is loaded into our online portal that allows you to see the real-time status of your equipment in our process. We offer summary and detail views across all dimensions and reports can be customized to suit specific needs. For example: Job/PO, Location, Product Type, all product attributes, condition/grade, disposition details (scrap/resale), dates; we also have the ability to record customer reference fields at asset and job level, etc. Brass Valley has developed a risk management platform that consists of our Audit Ready Chain of CustodyTM, advanced data security practices, environmental management practices, and client based indemnification plan. Taken together, our risk management platform makes Brass Valley the safest choice for your ITAD needs. 👉 Direct message me right here on LinkedIn ✉ OR Email sales@brassvalley.com

    • Value Recovery
      • Aug 2020 - Present

The risk-free way to recover the true value of your retired IT assets. No-one works harder than our brokerage team! One of the differences in ITAD companies is their ability to effectively remarket retired IT equipment. Our clients depend on our asset remarketing capabilities to meet their ROI and TCO goals. We take pride in our ability to get competitive pricing for all the equipment that is eligible for resale. How does the process work Step 1: Collect and categorize the equipment: After going through the inventory and data security process the equipment is graded on functional and cosmetic scales then prepared for resale. Over 20 years of experience has allowed us to develop buying markets in a broad range of equipment types: Edge Computing: Desktops, Laptops, Peripherals, Mobile Core Computing: Servers, Storage, Networking Specialty: Broadcast, Test and Measurement Step 2 Building packages for resale: In this phase, we package the products in lots (wholesale) or individually (retail) to make them attractive for resale. Understanding how lots can be packaged is a skill that can make a big difference in the overall resale value of the products. Step 3 The bidding process: The goal with everything we sell is to create a competitive bidding environment for your equipment. Our brokerage team uses auctions, email blasts, phone outreach, specialty websites, and retail outlets on a domestic and global scale to create as much demand as possible for each item. Step 4 Sale complete: When the sale is completed, our clients can see their settlements real time in our online portal. Settlement reports are generated for each lot that we process. The resale process presents one of the biggest challenges for ITAD data security & is one of the most common points of data breach.
