My role at Bendigo Bank was my first ‘proper’ job since entering the big bad world (i.e. finishing high school). As a casual employee my position was a Loan Services Officer. This position taught me vital work/life skills. These include the importance of prioritising tasks & organisation, working in a team environment, high attention to detail, meeting deadlines and targets, problem-solving and filing. Sticking to the sporting sector, I completed an internship with the Queensland Reds. I was the Women’s Intern and in charge of everything to do with Women’s rugby. My aim was to help change the stereotype for Women’s Rugby by promoting the sport through articles and social media creation. I was heavily involved in the Australians Women’s Rugby 7’s campaign for the 2016 Rio Olympics, ensuring our Queensland players were in the limelight. This internship equipped me with key skills for a digital role which include: - Creating written content for Queensland Red’s ‘New Section’ on their website (including match previews and review, human interest pieces etc.) - Assisting in creating Social Media content - Pulling content from Media Releases to create attention-grabbing articles - Interviewing numerous players, coaches etc. - Analysing social media campaigns to ensure promotion has reached key stakeholders - Liaising with key stakeholders; for example: pitching stories to journalists to ensure promotion of Women’s Rugby (particularly in rural/regional areas) - Assisting in Press Conferences Show less

I gained some work experience in the summer of 15/16 with the Brisbane Heat. This was my first taste of what a career in digital could bring and I LOVED IT! My role was to assist with social media content at the Women’s Big Bash games. My key task was to attend matches and update the Brisbane Heat Twitter feed.
