I have worked alongside Kristy for over 8 years. During my time as an academic counselor, I referred many students to meet with her directly. Often times, these students returned to thank me for making the introduction as they feel she has helped them through their most vulnerable moments. As a clinician, Kristy possesses excellent listening skills and is a strong communicator. Kristy is empathetic, professional and a problem solver. During my years at this institution, I have watched the Department of Mental Health and Counseling Services grow and flourish under her lead.
Maria Idoni
I am Maria Idoni, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Area Director for the HudsonValley/Westchester Chapter and I have had the pleasure of working with Kristy Robinson for since 2011. Kristy originally reached out to AFSP because she wanted to bring suicide awareness to Westchester Community College. I was immediately impressed with her desire to take on such a big event, when it was not part of her job. Normally, students are the ones who want the walk on their campus, however Kristy initiated their walk. She realized that students needed more than what was being taught in the classroom. She saw their need for talks about mental health and has been trying to reduce the stigma of mental health since the day I met her. During Kristy's time as walk chair, she has always been professional, kind and unstoppable! Each year, she organizes the walk, gets students involved, food donated and participates. She gives 100% all of the time. I have seen her interact with students and I have admired how she handles the different situations that they present to her. Besides volunteering as a walk chair, Kristy organized a Suicide Prevention College Conference. She has proven to me multiple times that she can easily handle anything put in front of her. In addition to her impressive work ethic, Kristy is a natural leader, and a humble person. She has a great attitude and is always willing to help. I am confident Kristy will be a great asset to any organization.
