Administrative Assistant

Jun 2007 - May 2008
After obtaining my Office Administration diploma from Career Skills in 2007 I completed my “on the job training” in the department of Client Services and Quality Management Directorate, Program and Service Policy Division. After completing the “on the job training” I was offered two casual contracts with Veteran’s Affairs department of Special Program Initiatives and the Veteran’s Health Service Review. During my tenure as administrative assistant with Special Program Initiatives I assisted in the development of the Veteran’s Health Services Review Statistical Report. This report was completed and delivered to the Director General and served as a reference document for years. Other duties I had were preparing charts for PowerPoint presentations dealing with financial and client forecasts for VAC senior management and central agencies. In doing this I had to work with large spreadsheets and transfer statistics to PowerPoint charts and tables. My other tasks were to prepare documents for meetings, organize meetings, work the central records to obtain files for research and send files to be archived. I complied information on the numbers of deployment to special duty areas through internet and VAC central records searches. I also did text searches on VAC’s Client Service Delivery Network for causes of disability pensioned conditions for a sample of clients. Show less
