  My role as a Regional Coordinator at School on Wheels started over five years ago. I not only have the honor of working with incredible volunteer tutors, but I also work with students and parents experiencing homelessness in the local area. The volunteers in my region and I work tirelessly to provide academic support and help shrink the educational gaps brought on by experiencing homelessness. In addition to this, I work closely with community partners (local homeless shelters, motels, schools, etc.) to ensure the community is aware of the services School on Wheels provides and that as many students are reached for academic assistance. • Coordinated marketing and recruitment efforts for volunteer tutors across LA County • Provided training, support, and retention strategies to volunteer tutors • Managed at least 100 volunteers and at least 300 youth receiving all available services • Presented at volunteer tabling events, university, civic, and other community engagements • Established partnerships with school districts, and social services agencies • Recruited and conducted outreach at homeless shelters, motels, and schools • Developed volunteer council for consultation to enhance organizational culture and retention efforts • Assisted in cultivating and sustaining corporate partnerships for program success Show less
