As part of the polymer development team, I took charge of my own project, researching, formulating, synthesising and testing resins. Testing included viscosity, gel time and horizontal burn tests along with shadowing mechanical tests. Along with written reports, I gave multiple presentations to a varying audience keeping in mind the confidential nature of my work. Throughout this experience I furthered my understanding of the importance of REACH regulations, COSHH and the time sensitive nature of intelectual property. Show less

Experience was gained over 7 years as a competitive swimmer for CADS and from volunteering assisting other teachers. Having achieved my Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification I developed various methods of communication, teamwork skills and have been in a position of high responsibility and trust. I have also worked alongside experienced coaches and other volunteers which has enabled us all to further develop our skills and knowledge both individually and as part of a team. I have also attended a FUNdamentals CPD, Team Manager Training Module 1 and have previously held the National Rescue Test Award. I have often dealt with minor first aid scenarios. Show less

I experienced the roles of chemical engineers, operators and chemists, quickly learning about various roles and health and safety procedures on the refinery. As part of this I undertook tasks such as a two-day training course using simulators of the refineries operating system and producing a presentation on the economic benefits of furnace cleaning.
