Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWD) is a federal Health Resources and Services Administration grant that encourages, supports and assists minority nursing students graduate from a registered nursing program. • Coordinated Pre-Entry component of NWD, for high school students, which helps to prepare them to enter college, graduate and work as registered nurses. • Assist with the nursing student mentor program, another NWD component, in mentor recruitment, orientation, and coordination of mentor time sheets. • Ensure program visibility, providing copy for DYC Web site, news releases, participation in community events. • Result: Increased DYC nursing student retention; three Grover students enrolled at DYC for Fall 2010 semester.
