I edit papers written by college-level students. I list strengths and areas needing attention for each paper that is submitted. I read over papers with certain items to look over provided by the student, but I also keep an eye out for small details that may have been missed. I primarily look for higher-order concerns such as thesis statements, content, and structure; however, I also look for lower-order concerns like grammar and formatting. As of right now, I have worked with one author to proofread her upcoming contemporary romance novel. I read through the manuscript and looked for many different elements such as grammar, word choice, inconsistencies, dialogue, organization, etc. As of right now, I have worked with one author to proofread her upcoming contemporary romance novel. I met with students to work on different skills to improve their writing and grammar usage. I would brainstorm and review papers from any subject as well working with various formatting. In addition to working with students, I attended weekly trainings to sharpen my skills in the department so that I was better able to aid those that I met with. Feb 2019 - May 2021
At the community college, I was a tutor in the Academic Assistant Center for various subjects such as psychology, statistics, biology, English, history, public speaking, and computers. I worked with students to understand the material they were learning in class and provided them with strategies to help them study and stay organized. I have helped them brainstorm for projects and papers, worked through math problems, given them space to talk through their thoughts for papers, etc. I worked closely with the students throughout the semester to give them the help that they need to succeed. I have been the tutor of the month and tutor of the semester while working there and was awarded excellence in academic assistance at the end of the spring semester.

After working as a tutor at the community college, I was offered a position as a lab assistant in the Academic Assistance Center. My main duties were answering phones, scheduling and proctoring tests, helping students and faculty with printing/copying files, and maintaining a quiet and professional atmosphere in the office.
