Originally sought and hired by the owners in 1983 when the agency was young to create a separate commercial lines department and function as its sole manager for all commercial accounts. As the agency grew, in addition to my account management responsibilities, I became the agency bookkeeper. Hiring, training, and employee dismissal were additional traditional duties that came with my promotion to office manager in 1989. My non-traditional office management skills that have made the most significant impact, to this day, began with my accepting the lead role for implementing automation procedures, technology upgrades, system migrations and the merging of different data management systems. By 2003, by expansion and acquisition, the agency had grown to a main office with two branch offices, all of which fell under my responsibility.
