I worked at VSH for about 4.5 years and still maintain a great relationship with the company. My mentor who is still employed at VSH is someone I still keep in regular contact with and use as a supplier for current projects I work on. VSH is a showroom for mid-high end residential plumbing fixtures and exterior/interior hardware. My role at VSH was very customer service based which also emphasized on consulting & sales. I helped homeowners, interior designers, architects, plumbers, & local contracting companies choose plumbing & hardware for residential & commercial projects. On two occasions, I was asked to conduct in-home consultations on my day off with the home owner. Both were wonderful experiences which were vital to obtain site measurements and clarification before ordering fixtures & hardware. I still maintain contact with a few interior designers who I worked closely with for a few years, and consider them part of my growing network. I like to recommend them to potential clients when needed, and thoroughly enjoyed the gratification I felt after a project was complete, especially when the homeowner would reach out to update me or show pictures of the final result. I actually worked for Ginger’s, a store across the street from ELTE, which they bought before 2013. They focus on high end bathroom & kitchen fixtures, cabinet hardware, bathroom lighting, and accessories. I continued to develop skills in sales with high end interior fixtures, and coordinated the ordering of these items /w homeworkers and trade clients, such as Interior Designers within the GTA. I thoroughly enjoyed working at Trianon for Interior Designer Lesley MacMillan & her partner, Bernard LeCorre. Coming from an unfulfilling background of residential kitchen design, I learned skills in consulting and sales, related to interior design and decorating projects- both residential and commercial. I assisted with the logistics of ordering and receiving materials for projects Lesley was working on, and created quotations for customers interested in the purchase of antique/ refurbished furniture, lighting, and accessories in the shop. I also did a bit of accounting using QuickBooks. The big reason why I left was, my commute was insane.. my days were 13 hours long from when I left for work to when I walked in the door of my home. I couldn’t afford to rent my own place closer to downtown Toronto (the Design District). After 9 months, I unfortunately was just exhausted and had to resign from the position. My next role was closer to a highway exit, so I was able to drive to work. I still, over ten years later, have recommended Trianon on occasion, if I hear clients are looking for antique furniture pieces that have been reupholstered and refinished. It’s a boutique style store/design studio featuring high-end wonderful furniture, lighting, and decor. It’s a service that Lesley & Bernard created in the 90’s. They travel to France often, to secure and purchase antique pieces. You must visit, if ever in the Design District of downtown Toronto. King E/ Sherbourne. Show less
