AIDN-WA aims to be Western Australia's primary industry association for businesses participating in or entering the Defence supply chain. As such, it is able to represent its members' interests through its National channels, facilitating dialogue with the Department of Defence, Federal and State Governments and relevant agencies. Locally AIDN-WA facilitates networking events, updates, training and provides relevant business intelligence. My role at AIDN-WA is to ensure a non-executive and executive team of volunteers delivers these outcomes, ultimately delivering value for the West Australian and Australian Defence Industry and Defence End-User. My role at AIDN-WA is a volunteer position in support of this key industry Not-For-Profit Association. In my time with AIDN-WA some notable achievements include establishing harmony and alignment in a once fractured advocacy space, enhancing governance structures, improving Board dynamics for a more collaborate non-executive branch, driving membership to record levels. This is attributable to the effort of predecessors and colleagues, as well as to myself. Through AIDN-WA I was assigned a seat at the AIDN National Board, and played a significant role in guiding the organisation through problem identification, governance improvements, procedural improvements, conceptual reform, reform agreement, reform execution and new Board implementation within 12 months. This has established a far stronger base line for a focused National Board to drive future AIDN success. For more information regarding AIDN-WA please visit www.aidn-wa.org.au. My history at AIDN-WA is: 2014-2017 - Board Member July 2017 - October 2017 - Board Member and Vice President October 2017 - Current - Chairperson and President I was also a member of 2020 AIDN National Nominations Committee.

Business News is West Australia's most prominent publication in print and online for news in the business sector. Through the emergence of Defence and its importance to the WA economy, Business News sought a regular Defence Column as part of their ongoing offering to subscribers. I am not a journalist or analyst, but do welcome the opportunity to raise awareness of key issues and achievements within the Defence sector, and in conjunction with the various stakeholders in this sector, use this platform to help us collectively step towards two key desired outcomes; 1) an Australian Defence Force that is as best equipped and supported as possible; and 2) to maximise engagement and involvement with Australian industry in the development of that support.
