Built and tested fauna call recognisers in AviaNZ including use of convolutional neural networks (CNN) for 14 threatened species in NSW across two projects. Field work experience including harp trapping for insectivorous bats, Elliott trapping, small mammal handling, habitat assessment surveys, deployment of Wildlife Acoustics Songmeters, call playback experience and animal call identification (birds, reptiles and nocturnal animals). Students designed a sustainable residential development in teams applying sustainable design skills, systems, technologies and processes for cross-disciplinary applications. The assessment also required evaluating issues, methods and processes of sustainable design, engineering and construction.

SEF Engagement Ambassador

Working as a student engagement ambassador for QUT's Science and Engineering Faculty (SEF), I helped organise and run field practicals for ten grade 11 school classes over four days at QUT's Samford Ecological Research Facility.This role involved organising field work equipment, health and safety datasheets and putting together an information booklet for the students. On site, I delivered and introduced the field practical as well as aiding and guiding students with the field work. I also recruited and managed four student ambassadors to help across the four days.

Research Assistant

I worked as lead research assistant on a green infrastructure project in collaboration with Lendlease, Grow Collective and with funding from Horticulture Innovation Australia. A green roof and green wall were constructed and mounted on a demountable building at RAAF Amberley Base with the aim of cooling the building and thereby decreasing the need for energy use through air conditioning. I developed surveys, an environmental monitoring strategy and collected and analysed environmental data. In November 2017, the team was invited to the Horticulture Innovation Australia Research Forum in Sydney where I presented the research to academics, researchers and industry collaborators within the urban greening sector.
