  Using my skills in leadership and program development to help rural Guatemalan communities create and establish a culture of reading through teacher and librarian training programs Established literacy programs in rural areas of Guatemala through teacher workshops and individual follow up sessions that have impacted 27 communities and approximately 7,000 elementary school students Co-taught 25 workshops annually for 280 teachers and librarians that focused on developing critical thinking and comprehension skills for the educators and their students Key contributor in developing curriculum for 4 different workshops and follow up training sessions Provided follow up by visiting classrooms, modeling reading techniques and helping teachers to implement new reading strategies Developed assessment tests to measure changes in comprehension skills.
