  Scott AFB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs accurate and timely laboratory testing on human blood, body fluids and tissue in order to aid providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patient medical conditions. • Served as laboratory technician generalist in client services, urinalysis, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, blood bank, serology and shipping. • Performs/oversees procedures in all laboratory departments. • Properly collects and processes blood and body fluids. • Instructs… Show more DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs accurate and timely laboratory testing on human blood, body fluids and tissue in order to aid providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patient medical conditions. • Served as laboratory technician generalist in client services, urinalysis, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, blood bank, serology and shipping. • Performs/oversees procedures in all laboratory departments. • Properly collects and processes blood and body fluids. • Instructs patients on proper specimen collection procedures • Evaluates specimens for acceptable condition and stability. • Receives patients and phone professionally and efficiently • Performs phlebotomy and responds to patient reactions • Enters results into CHCS and faxes results to providers. • Trains and mentors students and new employees in phlebotomy, client services and testing proceedures • Operate and calibrates various analyzers, centrifuges and equipment. • Perform maintenance on all analyzers, equipment and sections. • Maintain required competencies in each section of the laboratory • Maintain required training to include Infection control, safety, information assurance, HIPPA, basic life support, First aide, and CBRNE. • Uses operating instructions to perform and teach procedures. • Inspects personnel and lab for infection control discrepancies and trains team monthly • Maintains and distributes records and mail.
