As editor of Chicago magazine's "Go" arts & culture section, I direct the magazine’s expert monthly coverage of music, theater, dance, museums, and more, writing features as well as recruiting, managing and editing freelance writers. I also write the magazine's "Agenda" column, curating ten of the best things to do in the city each month.

I manage the conversion of Rotary's monthly magazine for U.S. members and quarterly magazine for Canadian members into digital editions. Working in a CMS as well as raw HTML, I restructure articles for reader-friendly scrolling flow, while also proofreading and line-editing every page of the magazine with an eye toward catching any errors introduced in automated migration. With Time Out Chicago’s transition to digital-only in April 2013 alongside a significant contraction of staff size, I took on additional duties covering comedy, dance, film, LGBTQ issues, travel and other aspects of Chicago culture, and participated in a new refocusing on search engine and social media optimization and surfacing our wealth of content for online users. With the company’s relaunch of a quarterly Chicago magazine beginning in fall 2015, I helped a now mostly digital-first staff learn the ropes of producing for print; I also took ownership of producing the twice-weekly email newsletter. Theater Editor

May 2009 - Apr 2013
As editor of weekly city mag Time Out Chicago’s Theater section, I managed coverage of Chicago’s sprawling stage scene, profiled playwrights, actors, directors and designers, and wrote thousands of play reviews on tight deadlines. I managed assignments for a part-time staffer and a rotating team of freelance writers, many of whom I directly recruited and developed, and worked closely with a large edit team, art department and online producers.
