Andrea Blanken-Atkinson
Kevin was a Pinnacle customer and I worked for Philips in Application Support. Over a 9 year time with Kevin calling in for support, we became good friends. Kevin was always a delight to work with. He would only call in with a real issue, trying every conceivable solution prior to calling. I knew when Kevin called, it would be a collaborative and pleasant interaction. Kevin is a brilliant dosimetrist. He is also kind and compassionate, knowing that the good work that he does will help a patient receive a high level of care. I highly recommend Kevin for any position that he is offered and look forward to the day that we are able to work together again.
Allen L Williams, Ph.D.
Kevin was a fundamental member of the Radiation Oncology team for 9 years. In addition to providing dosimetry services he helped the department manage the transition to a new treatment planning system that offered advanced techology, supported the SRS and SBRT programs, played a role in both seed procurement and implant OR support for the prostate seed implant program, managed the personnel dosimetry program, and developed a departmental sharepoint site for information sharing. He helped provide leadership toward developing an improved culture of safety in the department.

I was highly engaged in providing quality Treatment Plans and helped Providence department thrive by continuously networking, learning and implementing state of the art technologies and techniques to help cancer patients in a busy, paperless Clinic (100+ patients/day on 4 linacs + specials with 2-3 Dosimetrists). I found efficiency using complex technologies.Supporting 3 Radiation Oncologists from U.Washington and MD Anderson I used Raysearch's Raystation and Pinnacle for Varian Linacs (IMRT, VMAT and 3D), Tomotherapy HI-ART and Planned Adaptive from Accuray, Eclipse/FastPlan for Stereotactic planning, Elekta's IMPAC/ MOSAIQ, & Brachytherapy seed implants. We made frequent use of in house PET/CT, 4D CT and MRI, stereotactic brain and body radiosurgery. I maintained our staff dosimeter badges, brachytherapy seed program, worked with RT students, spoke at nursing education events on and participated in Quality Assurance meetings. I was accepted to the Operational Excellence in house consulting program.I trained our new staff and we set a record in going clinical in our implementation of Raystation. My productivity increased 36% to 546 plans per year by optimally using Raystation and I presented as a champion at Raysearch user meeting 2015.I cooperated closely with other internal and external departments regarding patients and efficient procedures, stayed in contact with equipment vendors for solutions, licencing and continuous learning, • P.R.I.D.E. award winner (Providence Recognizes Individuals Demonstrating Excellence); • Completed employer sponsored Masters of Science;• created over 3700 clinical patient plans;• Initiated and maintained a departmental Sharepoint WIKI;• Reviewed articles for the Medical Dosimetry Journal: http://www.rtsource.com/periodicals/mdo;• Presented at National AAMD conference in 2014 on the topic of Team Work and Patient Safety including human factors/heuristic traps and systematic approaches to quality.
