      In summer 2006 I took part in Dare to be Digital, the international game design competition where you work in teams of 6 to create a game in 10 weeks. My role was game designer and programmer. As a member of team Log2n developed Flux a game prototype where you charge and build a network of power nodes purely through the use of mouse gestures. Our concept won the Greatest Innovation and Creativity award for using a gyro remote for input and beat matching algorithm to influence our game experience. Responsible for developing a game prototype with marketing materials in 10 weeks for judging. During the course of Dare we had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with an international group of game developers and experienced mentors. We also participated in masterclasses that covered topics such as visual identity, running a games business, game design processes etc. which were invaluable. I would highly recommend Dare to anyone wanted to get into the video games industry - it's an incredible learning experience and great fun. It also does replicate the studio environment pretty well too!
