Kathleen worked with me in particular but also with two of my colleagues in the Collection Development unit of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I knew Kathleen from my work with the Simmons library school program and was delighted to have her work with us as an intern. Not surprisingly given her undergraduate career at Marlboro College, she was a quick study and a confident independent worker. We introduced her to our book and film selection methods, our work with gift books, our work with subject specialties, and our general cooperative interchange of ideas and job-related matters with people working throughout the library. She was a boon to our work during that time and left us with the confident feeling that she could readily take on the responsibilities of a selector should that be in a future job description.

Kathleen was an excellent student in my Web Applications class. She was always prepared, always had an excellent assignment ready, and really pushed herself to go beyond the limits of the class. As a result, she had a working website when she left the course that she could be very proud of.

The Board of the Keene Public Library was created to govern the Library. This includes hiring and evaluating the Library Director and establishing the policies under which the Library Director operates. The Board also determines the methods of improving the impact of the Library on the educational and cultural resources of the City and surrounding area. During my time as trustee, the Board oversaw and completed a major capital campaign and library renovation. This was a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion of the existing Library. Each member is also a member of at least one committee.
