I had the pleasure of working with Kortney during her time at BetterUp. She is the epitome of a GREAT coach. She is an empathetic listener, provides a variety of practical advice and resources tailored to individual needs, and holds others accountable in the most sincere and genuine ways. Kortney has a way of making you feel very comfortable with vulnerability, and it can feel like you're talking to someone you've known for years! I was going through an extremely difficult time when I worked with Kortney as my coach and I would not have made the progress I did if it wasn't for her! I would definitely jump at the opportunity to work with Kortney again in any type of coaching capacity!

Drawing on over 1,000 hours of training, research and practice, I work 1:1 with business professionals to facilitate leadership development through reflective goal setting and planning. I use evidence-based methodologies and tools such as self and multi-rater assessments in strengths, values, cultural intelligence, and 360 feedback reports. Common objectives in coaching: • Navigating complex workplace relationships in matrixed reporting lines and high-stress environments. • Managing emotions, refocusing after failure, and setting new goals. • Identifying the signs of burnout and taking preventative or remedial steps to minimise the effects. • Having difficult conversations related to feedback, career progression, and annual reviews. • Working with virtual and multi-cultural teams to achieve better communication and performance goals. • Adapting to change in ambiguous work environments such as organisational restructures. • Identifying, strategising and deploying strengths or values for career planning and role shaping. Common theories applied in coaching: • Transtheoretical Model of Change (Prochaska & DiClemente, 2005) • Motivational Interviewing (Miller & Rollnick, 1991) • Appreciative Inquiry (Cooperrider & Whitney, 2001) • Self Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2012) • Kolb Experiential Learning Theory (Kolb, 1984) • Wellbeing Theory or PERMA (Seligman, 2011)

Care Coach

Dec 2020 - Nov 2021
As part of this new offering at BetterUp, I was selected for my training and experience in evidence based coaching methodologies to help struggling professionals through the challenging times of our global pandemic. Common topics discussed in my work with the care program include: - Developing awareness and skills for self compassion- Coping with grief over the loss of loved ones due to COVID (particularly in India)- Cultivating trusting relationships in a highly ambiguous work environment- Navigating work-life balance when the home and office become one- Resolving interpersonal conflict with professional colleagues- Finding purpose and passion in late-career- Starting a new job in the WFH environment- Developing personal connections in our new digital way of working- Creating personnel contingency plans amidst ever-increasing COVID cases (particularly in India)

May 2012 - Jun 2014
As a L&OD specialist for the enterprise’s sales teams (approx. 500 employees across television, newspapers, magazines, and digital), I collaborated with executive leadership on the development and implementation of a broad culture change project which included L&D programs, behavioural assessments, reward and recognition, and organisational restructuring. Key Outcomes: • Led the development of an SWM branded and nationally accredited Certificate IV in Business for 60 employees. • Designed workplace satisfaction surveys which led to profound behaviour and culture change, and an external benchmark study raising one regional office from least preferred to most preferred media advertising supplier. • Project managed the development and launch of custom built LMS for 500 sales employees which combined training registration, training resources, behavioural KPI assessments, and reward and recognition programs. • Led annual service agreement negotiations with LMS supplier resulting in cost savings of $80,000. • Managed a monthly performance assessment program for 500 employees and significantly increased rates of manager assessment completion which led to consistent performance and professional development conversations throughout the Seven Network television sales team. The impact of this behaviour change was a noticeable shift in cultural values toward professional development and organisational excellence.
