Eight weeks of full-time work. I contributed to the project “developing anti-cytokine therapies for perinatal neuroprotection”. I worked with foetal brain tissue to see effects of LPS and LPS+HSJ in regards to IL-6 induced damage. I literature searched the process of immunohistochemistry, different brain cells/ white matter (with focus on oligodendrocytes), interleukins, the markers used on the tissues and what they visualise, preterm injury/ inflammation, and brain anatomy and physiology. I also helped with basic laboratory activities during immunohistochemistry, independently imaged tissue slides, cell counted, performed some data analysis, watched a foetal sheep surgery and was present during practise PhD and Honours oral presentations.
