Kahn, faculty in department of Economics, University of Rochester. Gathered data from U.S. states with workforce development programs that offers firms grants to fund training of new hires and existing workers. Helped in creating a unique data link between participating firms and the near-universe of online job postings collected by Burning Glass Technologies (BGT). The fuzzy matching algorithm employed was written in Stata to be able to automatically match firm names from the workforce development programs with firm names in job advertisements with high accuracy. The goal of the project was to create this link in order to analyze the labor market impacts of the workforce development programs.
