IEEE is the main professional body for electrical and electronics engineers, as well as computer scientists. In IEEE Greece, my role is to work with student branches in attracting new members, organising contests and outreach events and motivating university and school students to engage in start-ups and other entrepreneurial activities. In my daily routine, I supervise PhD candidates and developers working in EU and Greek funded projects and research work by PhD candidates. Volunteering is an important part of my everyday life, especially when it comes to motivating students and adults to take up programming and acquire technology-related skills. Besides EU Code Week, which boomed from 4 events in 2013 to more than 300 last year, making Greece the most successful country in the EU, I participate in an NGO called Girls Go Coding which aims to bridge the gender gap in STEM education and careers.
