    • STP Manager
      • Jun 1997 - Mar 1999

After spending almost one year in Korea, I was given the position as "STP Manager" when I returned to Norway. "STP" means Submerged Turret Production". Our company had (together with Bergesen Shipping and Aker Floating Production) been awarded a contract to convert the Berge Hugin (the vessel from Korea) to an FPSO for Enterprise Oil to operate on the UK continental shelf. I was given the Project Management responsibility for the swivel, turret and mooring system deliveries including installation of the swivel system on board. The turret and mooring system was delivered by APL (NOV) in Arendal, while the Swivel system was delivered by Framo in Bergen. It was the first high pressure gas swivel delivered by Framo, and second production swivel. The whole project included a lot of technical development challenges and installation challenges. I spent most of 1998 working in Newcastle UK at a conversion yard. The FPSO was hooked up in December 1998 and we had first oil early 1999. As STP manager, I was part of the management team for the whole FPSO project. It was a huge challenge for myself and I learned a lot. It was really hard work. We were a good team together, all of us.
