Kyle was my ‘class president’ at CEIBS (MBA 2016 batch). The reason I recommend him today is because he continues to pro-actively inspire me, and a few of my other classmates, at our work & and in our personal lives till date. The most significant experience I had working with Kyle were: (1) Renovating & expanding the Student Lounge at CEIBS (2) GBF's GBC 2015 held in Shanghai and (3) A sustainability conference/competition in which we teamed up. Through out these, and numerous other interactions I have had with him on personal and professional basis, below are my five key observations of his skill sets: (1) Mentor Approach to Leadership: During all the activities where Kyle lead our teams, he maintained a very decentralized approach to work, despite it happening in a very hierarchical culture. Additionally, he has never been shy of sharing knowledge/coaching on topics that he has has expertise in. (2) Task Oriented Relationship builder: Kyle has shown a rare capability to separate a person's traits from his ‘productive utility’, which has enabled him to productively engage everyone in his teams, despite any friction whatsoever. (3) Curious and Accepting of every culture: I have literally never seen Kyle being disturbed or bothered with cultural differences between his work environment (Asia) and where he grew up in (West); in fact he has always shown a genuine curiosity towards understanding, embracing and enjoying these differences. (4) Methodical & Structural Approach to Work: He has always bought structure and discipline to the organisations he worked in. He was decentralized in his style of management, but that didn't mean that he was not closely monitoring the tasks allocated through out the team. This was despite the fact that he was managing multiple teams across different organizations at the same time. (5) Conversationalist, well-traveled & well-read. This, one can only experience. But I must say that there has rarely been a dull moment with him around. Considering above, I would strongly recommend Kyle to any organisation that needs a cross-cultural and a cross-functional leader.

It has taken me sometime to think about how to write this recommendation for Kyle. I have met him first day of our interview for internship at Samsung C&T. He was confident and clearly a threat to me as the positions were limited. We became friends and developed our own respective professional aspirations. As the only two survivors of the global internship program, we struggled for 3 years for breakthroughs, learning, and constant sanity-checks to remind each other that our beliefs for what is right must not yield to corporate pressure and conformity. Kyle has continued to strive for more challenging goals and his next goal will certainly take him to the next level of professionalism.
