Hallmark approached me at the New Designers show in London and offered me a two week placement. Based on the strengths of my portfolio, I was set a few briefs by the art directors and illustrators. This experience gave me my first insight not only to the greetings card industry, but working in a professional creative environment which I found enriching and inspiring. Hand&Lock are a high profile embroidery company who produce embroideries for royalty and celebrities as well as the general public, and I had the opportunity to see first hand how they work within the studio. My tasks included organising and sourcing materials, checking and updating contact details on their computer filing system, typing and printing labels for items in the studio, and I repaired some bead work on a customers dress.
