Following my campaign in March 2021, I was elected by the University of Strathclyde student body to take on the role as Strathclyde Sports Union President/Vice President of Sport at Strathclyde Students’ Union. My role is to represent students within the Union and at University level, sitting on various committees, the Union Trustee Board, Court and Senate. I work closely with a range of actors from across the charity and the university. I also help to facilitate 50+ sports clubs & manage the circa 3,000 members we have at the Sports Union. I chair meetings with the Sports Union Executive Committee, and also organise and chair Sports Union General Meetings. When the need arises, I also chair the Disciplinary and Appeals Committee. Our Sports Union runs a range of events, including the annual Sports Ball and Captains’ Dinner which I am also highly involved in executing. The role has already shaped me as an individual, giving me opportunities to enhance my leadership and delegation skills, public speaking, organisation, team work, communication - and in general helping to run a multi-million pound charity.
