Kirsten is a great member of our policy team - she brings energy, enthusiasm and a real passion for the work she is involved in. She has been a great support directly to the team and to the wider organisation and senior team in providing insights in to policy matters, bringing new an innovative ideas to how the work is done. Kirsten is always proactive, keen to try new ways of working, always adds value and is very professional at all times. A great asset to any team and organisation.

Kirsten has been a diligent and enthusiastic member of our team. Working as a Policy Assistant during a busy period, she picked up our ongoing projects, and briefing structure/content with ease, as well as fitting in with our culture and way of working. Kirsten is also very organised, willing to ask the right questions and learning about social care policy in a very cluttered, complex landscape for our remit. As part of that learning, she's been integral in setting up mind maps to clearly set out the links between policy, strategy and Care Inspectorate work. I'd recommend Kirsten to any public affairs or policy team.

As part of my Master’s Program I completed an internship with the Environmental Rights Centre For Scotland (ERCS) working on developing a policy paper with their in-house solicitor regarding the need for an Environmental Court or Tribunal to be put in place within Scotland. Currently without an affordable and accessible Environmental Court Scotland is in breach of the Aarhus Convention outlined by the United Nations. This position has enhanced my data capturing and reporting skills as I collated up to ten global examples of existing and thriving environmental courts and offered ways in which these specifications could be implemented into Scottish policy. Responsibilities: • Researching set environmental courts around the globe and collating the relevant data so as to ensure a comparative pre-policy document • Attending meetings and taking notes to feed back to management • Working with external organisations with the run up to COP26: writing an environmental blog for Youth Link amongst other key tasks. Skills Gained: • Time management, record keeping, work prioritisation, problem solving, attention to detail, communication, multitasking, integrated teamwork, information management, self-assurance, listening. Helped with the Stirling University summer international exchange program. International students, mainly from America, were at the University to develop their teaching and young people skills. I worked along side Dr Will Kay, who is a professor of sports at the University.
