      The duties described below were performed under Wellpath's contract with the PA DOC at State Corrections Institute Phoenix which is one of the largest and newest state-run corrections facilities with the greatest inmate volume and highest capital crime inmate population in the state. Provided quality care for a high volume of acute patients with an average patient volume of 25 in a 4 hour period which included history taking, physical examination, interpretation of diagnostics, medical records reviews, diagnosis, and formulation of a treatment plan with medication prescription, diagnostic ordering, and further referral as necessary Rounded in the facility infirmary which included long-term care patients, acutely ill recent admissions, surgery post-op patients, and acute psychiatric patients Triaged and provided acute care to emergent patients within the facility's small emergency room area and facilitated transport to outside facilities or admission to the infirmary when necessary Monitored patients with chronic health conditions via chronic care clinics, following care guidelines to ensure appropriate treatment Reviewed diagnostic imaging and lab results and followed up with patients for critical results Performed minor procedures within the facility emergency room including but not limited to wound suturing/gluing, skin biopsies, incision and drainages, and ingrown nail removals Show less
