Through the Science Internship Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, I pursued independent social science and scientific research during summers and the school year. 2015 Summer: Analyzed the chemical composition of e-cigarette vapor in comparison to traditional cigarette smoke. Received the United States Public Health Service Award and a $600 grant for research expenses 2016 Summer: Worked under Dr. Costanza Rampini on the project The Effect of Education Levels and Gender on Vulnerability to Flooding. Used SPSS software to analyze data collected from households in the Brahmaputra watershed. 2017 Summer: Worked on an independent project to design an app to aid in the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease: Touch Test 2018 Summer: Worked in the Saltikov Lab on the project Training a New Bacterial Model for Arsenic Treatment. Became proficient in lab techniques such as PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, making bacterial cultures, streaking plates, designing primers, and working in an anaerobic glove box.
