My research project sought to explore the role of the Internet in the everyday lives of Ugandan consumers, in an attempt to understand the impact of inequality in access to information and communications technologies. In doing so, I've conducted a 5-month field study in Uganda, gathering primarily qualitative data. Key preliminary findings include:- The significance of how the Internet is sold and how it impacts consumption- The significance of choosing the right marketing channels in a developing context- The inequality of access to formalized banking services and the impact it has on online shopping Show less
