Kim was my instructor for the Advanced Magazine Workshop - a class I had been looking forward to ever since I began the journalism program at King's College. Her lectures were some of the best I've ever seen as a student at King's - they were clear, concise, and engaging. Kim obviously has a great deal of experience in Canada's magazine industry, and she was able to communicate those experiences to students in an extremely interesting and useful way. Since graduating, I have been hired as an Editorial Intern at Chatelaine Magazine, and I don't think I would have had a chance without Kim's class.

I had Kim as a teacher and moderator in the Advanced Magazine Workshop at the University of King's College. Kim did not only support every student's endeavours in making a magazine that resembled them, but she also pushed them to new limits and taught them the business of magazine production in just under six weeks. Kim never overlooked ideas without consideration and would often offer tweaks rather than a full revamp. She, without a doubt, knows what she is talking about and is very honest with her knowledge of the Canadian magazine business.

Lead a 6-week intensive magazine and online publishing training program, during which time students take a magazine or editorial online idea from concept to completion. This involves developing editorial and business plans, developing magazine and website architecture, coming up with story ideas--and then executing it all. By the end of the 6 weeks, groups produce a complete mock-up of their publication or website, complete with live copy and photos.
