Bio
Yvonne Underhill-Sem
I strongly recommend Kimberley in any role that requires someone who is intelligent, careful, insightful and systematic. Kimberley's thesis was a solid contribution to understanding the complexities behind women's achievement in the tertiary sector, especially in Fiji. She is hard working and able to aptly work in new areas. She has fine social science research skills, writes well and is a delight to work with.

Kimberly is an extremely hard-working, determined, and organised individual. She puts a great deal of thought into every minute detail of whatever project she is working on and is passionate about a wide range of social issues. I have learnt a great deal from Kimberly during my time spent studying alongside her; I appreciate her charismatic presence, her ability to put others at ease, and her constant willingness to both continually grow and learn from others as well as share her skills and knowledge in an accessible manner. I believe Kimberly will excel in a great variety of roles that allow her to demonstrate her strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, her ability to communicate and collaborate with others, and how capable she is at managing multiple projects. Kimberly would undoubtedly be an excellent asset to any organisation.

Research masters degree graduate in Development Studies

During my masters degree in development studies at the University of Auckland I studied economic development, policy analysis and gender development. I wrote and developed a tender document and clean water filtration development project plan for our student praxis group assignment. The goal of this project was to design a water filtration and saving plan, create a gnat chart to track progress and apply for funding for plan completion. We also worked as a group to create a monitoring and evaluation framework to ensure our project was a success. In the gender development class I gave a presentation on human rights and LGBQTI groups in development and implications for policy in the area of stopping violence directed at these groups. Writing a master thesis on women in higher education in Fiji taught me about research, theoretical frameworks, and policy analysis. All of which were included in my field work trip to Fiji to gather qualitative and quantitative data. This masters degree gave me experience in social science research, policy analysis and planning development projects in gender development and humanitarian interventions. Show less
