They say that the NCOs actually run the Army. NCOs know what works, what doesn't, they serve, protect and educate their senior officers - they make things happen. My dad was an NCO. They get things done. It is with the greatest respect that I say that for the nine years we have worked in the same organization, Kim has been the corporate equivalent of an NCO. She learns how things work, she remembers fixes and workarounds, she attacks problems relentlessly. If something is assigned to Kim, you can move on to other things, it WILL get done. It is maddening that someone of Kim's caliber gets caught up in "private equity crossfire" but that will be to the benefit of a new organization that will be so pleasantly surprised at the talent they will have acquired.
