Kyle Hileman

Kimberly was a Joy to work with and went above and beyond to get to know her engineers on a personal level as well as support us in our tasks. Kimberly truly has a go-getter attitude and in situations where direction is unclear, she does not hesitate to make decisions to push the program forward.

Led requirements team of a dozen engineers through the development of enterprise and segment requirements for SRR on commercial space station program in two months. Pivoted to plan and capture systems engineering processes for the definition and management of interfaces throughout the program lifecycle using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). I enjoyed slow progress toward my MS in Computer Science, one class a semester for several years. This was very advantageous as I could apply my learning to work. Pandemic-driven layoffs pushed me out of work and I was fortunate to spend 2021 completing the last 6 courses remotely. Used Eric Evan's domain modelling approach to bring about better communication about the system. This enabled safe updates, transition to newer technology, reduced defects, and improved maintenance velocity and operations insight. Spent over 10 years on a big data system to process satellite sensor data into environmental data products used by scientists to create weather and climate predictions. First, learning about the system through integration of the ingest, processing, and delivery components. Next, deploying the system for launch and early operations. Then, taking lessons learned into improvements for the next iteration where I tuned the system for high availability and low latency. The program received $43M award fee for exceeding those requirements. Show less
