I completed a PhD in the Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies at Western University. My SSHRC funded research demonstrated that dancing can offer critical insight into how our habitual modes of being in the world may be shifted and changed. Drawing on feminist phenomenology and critical race theory, I showed that the same process of re-sedimentation revealed through learning a new dance, can be applied to racializing perception as well, and can provide an opportunity to understand how to live whiteness differently.https://ir.lib.uwo.ca/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=9634&context=etdMy broader research interests include, anti-racism, anti-oppression, feminist activism, intergenerational trauma, arts based research. The completion of my PhD involved designing, organizing and executing an original multi-year research project. This required several practical skills such as: managing a multi-year project plan with sustainable, measurable goals, evaluating and synthesizing large volumes of data, delivering key outputs, acting on feedback, coordinating among various actors, and clearly communicating updates. Through this process I have demonstrated my ability to multi-task and work proactively under pressure. Show less

Dance and Embodiment, Department of Women's Studies and Feminist Research When developing this course, my goal was to use dance as a lens through which to examine the regulation of bodies in the social sphere. Students were introduced to the complex and contradictory ways that dance practices express, reproduce, and reimagine dominant social ideologies, and explored dance as an alternate tool for activism and community building. In addition to developing the course content (learning objectives, course syllabus, assignments, and reading list), I prepared and delivered weekly lectures, facilitated workshops and discussion groups, planned active-learning activities, assessed individual performance, and provided constructive individual feedback. As the sole instructor, I was responsible for all students enrolled in this class. Show less
