San Rafael, CA At Project Avary we work with youth who have a parent who is incarcerated. I work with youth in groups and one on one with reading and writing poetry and literature. This project helps youth to use writing and literature as tools to understand the context of their situation and feelings, to share, and to ultimately have authority over how this experience with incarceration impacts their lives.

She has also facilitated workshops in Santa Clara, Alameda and SF County juvenile halls. In late 2009 Kim joined the Pacific News Service office staff to work in development for The Beat part time. WritersCorps Teacher of creative writing at the Log Cabin Ranch in La Honda CA. Young men from SF are incarcerated there for 8-12 months. Kim worked "long term-in depth" with youth there primarily teaching writing workshops. Kim also developed and launched the Log Cabin Ranch Library--and a unique (to any local juvenile hall program) open mike night there monthly.
