I co-founded a Berlin-based startup, which holds a technology (patent pending) to enable reliable control of drones beyond visual line-of-sight via voice channels of the mobile network. I serve as an advisor for the NYU spin-off Pi-Radio. I also serve as a special advisor on V2X for the startup HyperMesh.net. I am the CFO for the 5G BERLIN executive board comprised of CEOs and senior industry leaders who conceptualize integration projects and new business strategies. My accomplishments included: • Played key role in ITU Focus Group “Machine Learning for 5G” defined goals, approved decisions and solved problems and served as the primary advisor to the Chair Professor. Main contact person to ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau • Convinced industry and academia partners including Intel, Vodafone, Korea Telecom, to contribute to the focus group and ideate next generation technologies. The Institute is heavily involved in orchestrating research projects that are funded from both government and industry partners. I drove several important research projects, namely in the field of vehicular and drone communications. My accomplishments included: • Supervised, developed, mentored and provided career advancement opportunities for 18 student assistants, including six master’s theses and two bachelor’s theses • Authored / co-authored 15 IEEE conference papers, five IEEE journal papers, and one Springer book chapter on areas of expertise • Executed full development life cycle of five collaborative inventions including scope identification, research, planning, design, verification, analysis of results and optimization • Supervised three times the human resources as other department colleagues and recruited additional cross-departmental team members to contribute to special projects • Initiated, coordinated and wrote numerous research proposals, which generated an additional €10M for the institute • Developed marketing strategy to promote V2X research that included several interviews in major media • Developed the research field of drone communications to become the main field for future research projects within the department, as stated during the 2017 department announcement • Extracted unique research outcomes for the development of a commercial V2X plugin for Siemens PreScan software which led to major revenues and yearly royalties of more than 50k$ for institute and customers using it in China, Korea, Germany and USA • Simultaneously authored dissertation for doctoral program while upholding all responsibilities and deadlines with Fraunhofer • Introduced Design Thinking methods and applied to research context which led to a new innovation mentality and positive change throughout the organization
