From the moment I met Kim on an elevator in a hotel in New Orleans I knew there was something special about her. We were there covering the visit of the Pope to the United States. I was a reporter. She was a producer. Since then, Kim has gone on to not just cover news but help train and guide hundreds of others around the world to be better storytellers. Her compassion and understanding is her greatest tool. She listens and then acts. It's the listening that gives her the ability to deliver. I am glad I met her. You will be too.

Chief Operating Officer

May 2008 - Present
Chief Operating Officer for Evans Kurth Holdings, LLC - parent company of EKH Media/Midcourt Tennis Academy. Responsibilities include staff development/management, sales/revenue growth, program development/implementation, and marketing. Also provide coaching sessions to staff to improve communication skills on and off the court. MTA took over operations in 2009 of Samuell Grand Tennis Center, a floundering city of Dallas facility. Within 3 years, SGTC rose to #1 revenue-generating facility among 5 Dallas tennis facilities. Increased year-over-year revenue 62 out of first 63 months. In 4th year, United States Tennis Association awarded us the prestigious 'Outstanding Facility Award.' One of largest undertakings @ SGTC: series of events we created/organized/held during summer 2015 commemorating 50th anniversary of Davis Cup Tie between US/Mexico played at SGTC in 1965. Players were: Arthur Ashe, Dennis Ralston, Ham Richardson, Rafael Osuna & Antonio Palafox. Events included: 4 hours free tennis for children across 5 facilities (SGTC was main site providing instruction to 500+ kids), adult tennis tournament, dedication ceremony of interpretive sign about historical Davis Cup Tie, ceremony honoring Jack Turpin-the man responsible for SGTC creation & bringing Davis Cup Tie to SGTC, production of 45 minute historical documentary on 1965 Davis Cup Tie, and a fundraising gala for our 501(c)3*. In 2015, we also took over 2nd facility, Fretz Tennis Center, which had been on a downward spiral for several years. Within 6 months, Fretz experienced growth in patronage/revenue and by our 1st anniv, the 2 tennis centers were battling it out for top revenue performer. *In 2008, we created Unfurrowed Ground Foundation, a 501(c)3 charged with helping kids pursue extracurricular activities to highest level despite family's ability to pay. To date: no child has been turned away & UGF has covered $250K+ in instructional fees. We launched EKH Media in January 2018. Show less

Caregiver (took professional hiatus)
-
Mar 2002 - Nov 2006
I opted to step out of my professional career to become the primary caregiver for my mother after she suffered a massive stroke just hours after undergoing a mastectomy. Top neurologists gave my mother less than 1% chance of survival and said if she did make it, she would be in a vegetative state. My mother is still alive as of May 2018 and far from being in a vegetative state. If you are interested in her incredible journey and mine, here is the link to my blog https://bouncingbackintome.blogspot.com During my hiatus, I also worked as a freelance writer for various magazines and other projects.
