I worked my way from an Undergraduate Research Assistant Volunteer to a paid Laboratory Technician position under Dr. Marie Davis. Since joining the Davis lab, I have been working on developing a Drosophila model of neurodegeneration based on mutations of the gene Rab39b, which causes X-linked PD as well as intellectual disability and autism. I'm currently working on characterizing the endovesicular trafficking in an iPSC-derived model which will complement behavioral studies that I'm performing using the Drosophila Rab39b mutant model that I also developed. This will provide important insight into the pathogenic mechanisms contributing to neurodegeneration in PD. Show less
