After Odin Risk Management was acquired by Nutec AS, Nutec Security Management was launched to deliver Security Risk Management services. The process of developing new services and business within the Norwegian Security Industry became an unforgettable and adventurous journey.Especially the challenge of educating and motivate the Security Industry to innovate their services and business model. Quite simply - think Customer profitability into their services.

    • Business Start Up - Risk Management
      • 2000 - 2001

Morten Østerhaug, Asle Dønåsen and I, jumped into a Start-Up project after nearly 10 memorable and educational years with Securitas. Our New Business, Odin Risk Management AS was founded and built in a short period of time, with high efficiency, lots of fun and a "vertical learning curve". The business model was fundamentally built on the Ideology of - Security to the benefit of the Customer - neither more nor less. Lots of Credit to Commercial Director Geir Magne Tallaksen and rest of the Management of Steen & Strøm - who stood by us, challenging the Security Industry, to rethink their business model and recalculate their services. We still like to believe that our struggle was a tiny but rather important contribution to a more Customer focused Industry, as we experience The Security Industry today.

Key experiences from this period are our relocating of Securitas Headquarter from a listed historical building (outdated of same reason) - Østensjøveien (Oslo), to Urtegata (Oslo) where a new Headquarter was designed and raised for Securitas. The task was simply to design a Cash Handling area were 2 opposing interests meet: Operational interests (Commercial) and Security interests (ensure employees and a given numbers of Cash).A truly exciting and educational part of my life, fulfilling this project with a dedicated management team and my gifted boss, Steve Gillberg,

    • Security Training and Consultancy Services
      • 1992 - 1997

My biggest experience was to acknowledge, that Security was a "total different" discipline from my Police profession. Over the years, this fact only become clearer. To be a part of Securitas Training department is still my funniest time of my career, and the fun started even before i started. Amund Skarholt, CEO of Securitas gave me a challenge on my last interview (remember still few month from i touched Norwgian ground): He asked me a bit cryptically: Kim - are you the Sporty type of guy? What are you supposed to answer in a job interview ? YES, i'm the best Consultant you have ever hired. Great - because you are 2 applicants in the final, with equal qualifications. Please - "TAKE A DRAW". 2 lots was in his hand. My new Training Manager and our HR-Director was in the room - both with serious faces. A few seconds i seriously considered my future in Norway - but SPORTY as promissed i choosed a Lot. KIM was written on it. YESSSS - I WON. Amund congratulated me with the job - and gave me the other Lot with the words - you can throw this as wel (i'm sure having in mind that curiosity is a strong human characteristic). He was right - i had to see who my opponent was. Guess who - KIM. No wonder that he was well known for creating higly motivated organisations - i was motivated as never before. In Securitas Training I was fortunate to be acquainted and allowed to work with some of the best educators in Norwegian Security Industry. Henning Allan (Mr. Securitas), Jon Owesen, Ola Stavnsborg, Asle Dønåsen, Pål Eggum and many more - brought me so much fun, when travelling accros Norway teaching and training booth our own Security Guards, Military personnel, and our Customers all about Security - miss you guys:-)

I was lucky to get the opportunity to an unknown and extreme environment with 50 highly skilled and motivated undercover colleagues targetting drug-related crime primarily in and nearby Copenhagen.Lucky - because you are not potential for the department if any in the group have qualified any negative references on you. Every colleague must RELY on you - especially when it gets though, which explain the strong focus on personal skills when recruiting to these environments.Operating undercover among drug users and drug dealers - is an experience and a sometimes a tough pressure. It was handled by max 3 + 3 years connected to this group - otherwise, the risk of being influenced and affected too much of this environment was too big. But - it seems like experiences and personal development from this environment does influence colleagues in a positive way. Many of my colleagues from the 80th. are later on appointed to leading positions in different areas of Danish Police. Similar to other Special Police units - most of what is experienced on duty are not to be announced.

    • Ordenspoliti - Police enforcement and Police Academy
      • 1984 - 1988

The education switches between 2 x 12 month of theoretical education and 12 months of practical training. Additionally, it is mandatory to serve 6 months in Copenhagen Police Taskforce - used to deal with Riots and High-Risk activities in Copenhagen. When started this education - we were told that each of us would change over the nest 3 year - so we did! We became Uniformed - not only in dress code - but also in mindset, way of thinking, speaking, walking, driving. When young people get this stringent education and training and become a part of this kind of community - it directs you in a certain direction. I am convinced that I have great benefit from this further on in my career and private life as well.

It was great fun to experience late 70th. and early 80th - which was the last chapter of a Public Phone Company - with no competitors. And caused by that - plenty of time to social events with fantastic colleagues: Kim, Claus and my old friend Stig (his father Frode served there as well) What a time it was :-)

After 2 years as Maritime apprentice with Maersk Line, i was designated as Boatswain when I joined the Marine to serve my duty. 8 month I served with a great team onboard a small vessel typically following Russian "fisher boats" with an extreme amount of Antennas sticking up - out of Danish territorial waters. On boad this wessel: Captain, 1 Officer, Chief, Boatswain, Cook and 4 mates doing the hard work:-)

    • Officer on deck training in International traffic at sea with Maersk Line
      • 1976 - 1978

Visiting the world - is one of the benefits of this profession. I must admit - I didn't finish my education as an officer on deck with Maersk Line. 6-8 month at sea and a couple of month at home didn't fit me well at that time. Football and other sports activities were too much a part of me at that early stage of my life - that I reversed this first choice of profession I made. But the experience has been a part of me since I left the life at sea. Short summarized:6 month - Maritime School at Sønderborg6 month - Tall ship Denmark (Skoleskibet Danmark) 6 month - Chastine Maersk (New Container ship - US, Europe, Mid.East - Asia)6 month - Henriette Maersk (Mid.East - Europe)
