Kim Bettcher leads the Center for International Private Enterprise’s knowledge management department, which he founded in 2005 to capture lessons learned in democratic and economic institution-building around the world. The initiative shares strategies and tools with an international network of reform leaders and serves as the secretariat of the Free Enterprise and Democracy Network. Bettcher advises CIPE officers and international partners on program design and implementation. He also supports global and country-level initiatives to engage the private sector in policy dialogue, governance reform, and sustainable development. Currently, he co-chairs the Policy, Legal & Regulatory Learning Lab of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs in addition to chairing CIPE’s staff working group on entrepreneurship ecosystems.Dr. Bettcher has written and edited numerous resources for CIPE, including articles and toolkits on public-private dialogue, anti-corruption, democratic governance, economic inclusion, and think tank management; a report on Creating the Environment for Entrepreneurial Success; three case study collections; the CIPE Guide to Program Development; and CIPE’s 25-Year Impact Evaluation. Bettcher has published articles in the Harvard Business Review, Party Politics, SAIS Review, and the Business History Review. He has taught as an adjunct professor at George Mason University's School of Public Policy and was previously a research associate at Harvard Business School. Bettcher holds a PhD in political science from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. Show less
