This project was apart of the Food for Health Ireland initiative and involved harvesting and analysing natural marine resources for potential bioactive agents to assist in improving human health and nutrition. I was involved in the extraction and analysis of fatty acids, pigments and proteins from a range of macroalgae species. My work included sample preparation, solvent extraction, sample analysis using HPLC, GC and UV-Vis spectrophotometry as well data collection and analysis.
