After catching the attention of PA Images, the company has sent me to various football matches, while the coronavirus pandemic provided me with the opportunity to focus on news photography too. I’ve documented how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the UK, while also capturing images across a range of topics, such as the Black Lives Matter protests, Extinction Rebellion protests and Grenfell Tower Anniversary. On Saturday 9th May I achieved my first front page image on the Daily Mail - an image captured on VE Day of a war veteran watching a Spitfire flypast. My photographs have also appeared in the Mirror, Sun, Guardian, Express and several other newspapers and websites. Show less

I photographed more than 50 football matches for the agency, ranging from League Two to the Champions League. I also covered professional boxing and darts, while representing four EFL teams as their Club Photographer (AFC Wimbledon, Crawley Town, Portsmouth and Forest Green Rovers). Within five months of working for the agency, I had images published across the majority of the national newspapers. Social Media Growth: I contributed towards positive social media stats for the club after reaching the Premier League in 2017. By adjusting our tone of voice and use of short-form video content, plus eye-catching imagery, the club regularly outperformed the Premier League's elite clubs when it came to fan engagement. We consistently grew our following across all social channels. Photography: I photographed Premier League matches for the club, and also an England international at Wembley Stadium. My keen interest for photography led to many opportunities within the club, from capturing training sessions and matches across all age groups, to photographing club-record signings for imagery used across social media and for press releases. Website building: I took lead responsibility for building the club's website on two occasions since promotion to the Premier League in 2017. This involved carefully choosing relevant imagery, building pages from scratch and altering the look and feel of the site. With little training, I was able to quickly grasp an understanding of how to use Content Management Systems. Other tasks: Interviewing footballers and key people at the club for website content. Providing live match coverage (match reports, live blog, social updates, live photography). Dealing with media requests and facilitating interviews with external media. Writing press releases and liaising with media/other clubs to confirm embargoes for breaking news. Show less

Freelance Writer

Feb 2016 - Aug 2016
After completing a host of training sessions for Goal.com, I began working as a Freelance Writer for the football news site, which reaches 46 million unique users per month, with the site available across 36 regional editions worldwide. During my nine-hour shifts, I sub-edit articles which are collected from another source, altering them to match Goal's specific style guide before publishing them across multiple editions. I also write articles from scratch, keeping up to date with the latest football news, including match reports, quotes-led pieces and video stories. Show less

I was part of a 13-man team that ran a youth football tournament at Barcelona’s Camp Nou, working with around 2,000 people over the space of two four-day tournaments. The role involved long days of work, often in excess of 14 hours per day, which tested my physical and mental durability. Here is a brief description of what each day involved: Day One: Welcoming parents/players at Barcelona airport at three different terminals, before loading teams onto coaches which would take them to their pre-booked accommodation. This tested my organisational and problem solving skills, while following a detailed spreadsheet that displayed all relevant information for the day's proceedings. Day Two: While the first tournament day was taking place, I was, again, used for my organisational skills as I managed the transfers in and out of the Camp Nou car park, making sure teams were guided correctly and boarding their assigned buses on the return journey. Day Three: On this day, the kids played on the Camp Nou pitch and the tournament finale took place inside Barcelona's famous stadium. After helping out with the pitch set-up, I managed the trophy presentations on the sideline, which required preparation and organisation to be ready for each ceremony. Day Four: All parents/players would return to the airport for their flight home and it was our job to assist with the transfers. The first tournament ran to plan but Barcelona breached their contract with Precision Pass for the second tournament, which meant the Camp Nou pitch was unavailable for use. This decision was only made the day before the event and wasn't received well by the 1,000 players/parents that had made the trip to play at Barcelona's stadium. This upheaval led to unprecedented circumstances that tested my working ability. Dealing with angry parents and heartbroken children meant I had to lean on my people skills to control heated situations. I had to show character and leadership to communicate effectively. Show less

Journalist
-
Oct 2015 - Mar 2016
After discovering a brand new Brighton-based online magazine on social media, originally called Bjournal, I contacted the owner of the site and expressed my interest in contributing sports content, especially concerning Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club. After meeting the owner, I agreed to write for the site on a voluntary basis, committing two days a week in which I would gradually build a portfolio of articles, while assisting the website's growth. I have now written over 70 articles for Brighton Journal, covering various sports, but also contributing in other journalism departments. Through sharing my articles on social media, effectively tagging high-profile people and distributing wisely, I have received praise for my work and developed a growing readership. Paul Hayward, winner of the Sports Writer of the Year award and Chief Sports Writer for the Guardian, described one of my articles as 'excellent' and follows my work through our connection on Twitter. I assisted the Producer/Camera Operator on the set of an online advert that was being filmed for an upcoming novel called the ‘Age of Games’. I was responsible for taking on-set photographs, which would be used on social media, and contributed as part of a small team that worked on the shoot. After making a good impression, I was then called upon to assist in the production of two commercial videos for Zehnder UK - a leading company in decorative heating solutions. I offered my creative ideas to the video producer, including the different types of shots that could be used, and assisted with both the camera operation and on-set photography. Show less

May 2014 - Aug 2015
I worked at Independent Lake Camp in both 2014 and 2015, taking the position of Camp Counsellor, Head Soccer Coach and a staff member in the Digital Arts department. It was an experience that strengthened my character; working long hours in a foreign country and being responsible for children aged 6-17. I was recognised for my contribution after only two weeks at the camp, attaining the 'Counselor of the Session' award (pictured below) from the Camp Director. I naturally jumped into leadership roles during my time at ILC, stepping forward to take responsibility when objectives were there to be met. After finishing the camp in 2015, I was approached by the Camp Director and offered the chance to run the entire sports department, as the Head of Sport, for summer 2016. Unfortunately I had to decline the offer due to my personal commitment towards building a career in sports journalism. Show less

Sports Writer - Work Experience
-
Oct 2014 - Nov 2014
During the first year of my Ba (Hons) Sport Journalism course I obtained two weeks of work experience at GiveMeSport, a popular sports news website based in the UK. It gave me a taste of working life in London, as I commuted into the city for the entirety of my stay and became accustomed to the early starts and late finishes. Each day would begin with a creative team meeting where story ideas for the day would be discussed. Throughout the week I produced a number of articles for the site, based on opinion, news and quotes, which received thousands of views from all over the world. Show less
