Director, East Region & Corporate Secretary
-
Jun 2020 - Jun 2021
In this position, I represented Atlantic Canadian students' organizations on the COCA board. This board helps plan the annual conference, while also serving as a set of resources and contacts involving all things student programming. The year progressed towards a virtual Student Life Summit for 2021, with an in-person conference coming up in the following year. The secretary role involved preparing meeting minutes, and ensuring that the organization was meeting the requirements for a not-for-profit. Sat on as a panelist for COCA's 2023 Recharge: "Lessons Learned from My Time in Student Life: Panel with former SA Students and Staff

Vice-President, Activities & Events
-
May 2020 - Apr 2021
Pulled directly from my Terms of Reference, I "oversee the organization, planning, and facilitation of all student-led events at the university," and must do so within the budge provided to me by our council. This includes, but is not limited to, our Orientation Week, society events, and any campaigns being undertaken by the Union. I work alongside the Bar Services Manager to plan the programming for the Golden-X INN. I work alongside our Vice-President, Residence Affairs to plan our House Hockey Cups. Much of the work consists of this kind of planning work, be it on a smaller or larger scale. In addition to these tasks, I sit on a plurality of internal committees, as well as committees with university administrators as a student voice. This includes, but (once again) is not limited to, the Student Orientation Committee, the Strategic Communication Action Team, the Students' Union Equity Advisory Committee, the Event Review Committee, and the Golden-X INN Strategic Planning Committee. This position has allowed me to gain experience using Robert's Rules in our Council meetings. I have participated in leadership training from Peak Experiences, with the goal of creating a cohesive and efficient Students' Union Executive team. I have also been afforded the chance to participate in the writing of statements released by the Union.

Student Bar Manager - The Golden-X INN
-
May 2019 - Apr 2020
As Student Bar Manager, I was primarily responsible for operational management of the bar. Along with constantly being in circulation on busier nights, and possessing the ability to help out any of the roles on staff (Bartenders, Bar-backs, Security). My tasks included:-Ensuring tills were properly stocked with adequate change.-Regular inventory checks (generally before and during the shift).-Changing kegs, stocking other supplies throughout the shift.-Protecting the integrity of our License by helping facilitate patron removal.-Helping acts with loading in and with whatever setup needs I could address.-Arriving early to open up, and staying at the end of the night to lock up.-Being a positive ambassador for the INN among my peers.-Ensuring there was nothing inhibiting other staff from performing to the best of their abilities. In writing this brief summary of my responsibilities while working at the Golden-X INN, I am overcome with a sense of gratitude that comes from having had the chance to work at such a staple of the StFX community. The experience, memories, and friends made while working here are invaluable to me moving forward.

Security and Bar-back, The Golden-X INN
-
Sep 2018 - Apr 2019
I started working part-time at the Golden-X INN in my second year at StFX. I started as a member of the Security team, which entailed protecting the integrity of the liquor license through patron removal. We would also be tasked with general cleanup duties, along with any other tasks we were asked to help with at a given moment. I was able to transition towards primarily Bar-backing shifts, where I would be responsible for ensuring there was always fresh glassware for the bartenders, cleaning as much of the establishment as I could while on the go, and making sure anything the bartenders may need access to was always stocked and ready for them.My biggest takeaways from these positions, aside from the practical work experience, is that working with and trusting the folks on your team is not only effective, but results in bonds being created that I will always be able to look back on. It is just as, if not more, fun to be working at the establishment your friends tend to frequent than it is going out yourself.

Pro Shop Attendant
-
May 2018 - Aug 2019
I worked two summers in the Pro Shop at Fraserglen. Tasks would vary between opening and closing shifts. In an opening shift, myself and my partner would be responsible for preparing the till for the day, and bringing out any carts or other equipment that may be needed from the shed. On a closing shift, I would be responsible for ensuring all of the carts and equipment are cleaned and re-placed, and that the shop is presentable for the next morning before locking up. Looking back at my time at the course, many of my favourite moments working at Fraserglen came from interacting with our regulars. I believe that I thrive when I am able to see myself in the community that develops around a business, and I find this to be true in all of the jobs that I enjoy and am successful in.
